The Vindictive Nastiness if the EU

Beautifully explained here courtesy of the Express

And Professor David Blake said has urged*Boris Johnson*to hit back by imposing penalties on*EU*goods of up to £90billion. The Professor of Economics at City, University of London, warned: “What we have learned from the trade negotiations with*Michel Barnier*is that the EU is a nasty, spiteful vindictive organisation that cannot be trusted.

Pretty much, Europe appears to be falling apart both financially and socially since the pandemic. Britain's vaccination program seems to be the only good news from Europe.

I feel for my relatives still living there because it looks as if every day brings some bad news.

How come if the EU is such a superb concept, they're so bitter and vindictive due to our leaving? Wouldn't you think they would wish us well and express regret as our deserting such a great club?

“It exploited every weakness we had to its advantage. For example, we had to trade off fishing for energy security, such is our dependence on electricity from the EU.

“It is time for the government to wake up and ensure that we have sufficient manufacturing capabilities to give us sufficient defence and energy security and resilience in the future.
This really sticks in your throat, all down to previous governments selling our utilities and more off.

No surprises.

Hi

Welcome to the \world.

We left the EU, we voted for it, it is dog eat dog as far as world trade is concerned, everyone is looking for an advantage.

We are at fault, we had no strategy, we sold critical parts of our economy such as manufacturing and utilities off, let them be asset stripped and we are now suffering for that stupidity.

After we had told the EU to get stuffed and that we were leaving, one would have expected them to bend over backwards to make our departure as trouble free and successful as possible. Who would have thought they would be mean enough to put their own interests before ours?

Hi

What annoys me is that we were not ready to leave, in spite of all the promises made.

The EU was, it inspects everything we export to them, we do not inspect what they send to the UK, we have just extended things until October, handing EU Firms a huge advantage over our own.

Border Control is an absolute disaster, I cannot understand why Pritti has kept her job.

Politics is easy just politicians who make a complete dogs dinner of it. We just have to pay for the corruption.

No one election will solve this problem.

But all the leading advocates of Brexit claimed we held all the cards and Boris was adamant we could have our cake and eat it.

The reality is that we were alway negotiating from a position of weakness and Brexit was an ill thought out project that would only make us poorer and less relevant on the world stage. Frost was an inexperienced chancer who got rolled over by a far more experienced EU team and Boris losing his nerve at the 11th hour didn’t help either.

Throwing our toys out of the pram now will only make matters worse as we are heavily reliant on trade with the EU with accounts for somewhere around 40% of our exports (43% in 2019) whereas EU exports to the UK only amount to less than 7% of their total (including internal trading)

We would not win a trade dispute
