replacement conservatory

This is how bad the corners are on our conservatory lower frame. So come Tuesday ,all being well, the whole top will be replaced from dwarf wall up with UPVC and heat reflecting glass roof. Also small opening windows above the larger ones which will be burglar proof

Re: replacement conservatory

I built our Conservatory about 4 years ago, and over this duration it has had little use, but, being forward thinking, and much to the amazement of a couple of builders, I sank the footings to the same depth as the house (700mm), and was told this was totally OTT. Now we are making the decision to either turn it into an bona fide extension, or leave as is and fit a pitched tile roof with exposed internal beams, because of the over engineering in the first place, these are both cheap options.

update

Today the lead flushing is supposed to go on making a seal between house wall and new roof. This is the inside look at the moment inside the conservatory. Still got roof-guttering-outside trim and window ledge inside to do

Re: replacement conservatory

Its looking really nice, our conserve is just a 4x4 metre brick and PVC and we use it all year round, wouldn't be without it.

Re: replacement conservatory

This is 14 ft wide x 9 ft deep at the longest point from patio house door to conservatory door. As you saw this already had a dwarf wall and electrical power points so the upgrade didn't cost as much as starting from scratch, ie foundations etc. The boss who owns the company doing the work was saying if they did start from the beginning the cost would have been between £25/30,000. Obviously this work we are having done is not even half that price luckily

The extra amount of light alone coming in is worth it. Apart from that the whole area looks almost twice the size now, although it isn't, and so much brighter.

With the now standard size double glazing gap ( in the 1980's air gap wasn't considered when we think it was built same as the house) and the heat reflecting roof Teazle our border terrier is going to be in her element
