Trailer repair at last made a start

yes stated another project on repairing, or should I say renovating my Ivor Williams P6E trailer. The floor was in a bad state after 18 years. looked at prices from Ivor Williams for a new floor and they wanted £90+vat +delivery or collect from agents 20 miles away. They must be joking. Ordered one off ebay right width but needs a bit cut from the length for £68 including express delivery. it is a proper trailer floor as well.
So this morning I made a start. First was to remove the alliminium cover and, it is big, then manouvered the trailer to a spare garage space and tipped in on its side with Sues help. Next was to secure it to a roof beam so it didn't tip over and fall on me or anyone.
So now I have got as far as removing the old floor and talk about wood rot it collapsed in half when I got it out.

trailer on its side showing floor

Old rotten floor

Now a clean up job and waiting for new floor to arrive in next couple of days.

I've been thinking of having a garage built at the end of my garden and that width would suit me wuite nicely

Wouldn't checker plate be better? You can get 6ft by 4ft by 2mm steel checker plate for about $75 (£37)

Do you have to get a compliance plate for your trailer? I have built a couple of 6 by 4 trailers, in fact only recently took the last of my trailer parts to the dump (axle and suspension for 750kg GVM trailer)

I am just having a camper trailer built for me and I had a stroke of luck getting the wheels; picked up a set of rims for $50 so I can use my car's spare in the case of a puncture

Hi Bruce

This is already a trailer so any compliance if necessary has been done by manufactures. The trailer came with a plywood floor so replacing like for like ready to sell.
The trailer is about 18 years old And Ivor Williams Trailers are the best you can get and last a lifetime.
The P6e model like mine new is around £1200+ When it is all back together I shall be expecting to get a good price for it

1,200.00 GBP = 2,071.76 AUD

Bloody hell! I won't be coming to the UK to buy a trailer.

A 7x4ft Heavy duty Box Trailer with High 500mm Sides, Flat Steel Floor, 5 Leaf springs is only about $1200. To be honest yours wouldn't last five minutes here and I doubt you could get it registered.
