Houseboat

This was featured on Grand designs about 4 years ago.

He spent over 80k and got into some legal trouble at his moorings.

Four years ago he moored it off Southend but was not allowed to live in it.

On Feb1 it broke its moorings.

I remember seeing this one and thought at the time that the bloke was bonkers. He couldn`t afford to finish it, but how could he afford not to? Tragic really....

I doubt he would have been able to get insurance for it either

A classic case of high hopes over logic.

To be honest I've watched a number of those programmes featuring converted barges and despite people saying they love their boats I can not see how they can live in them with all that humidity and dampness.

Some are better than others but really, even the best, must be damp all the time and in winter especially, the rust and corrosion must be a full time job to control.

Would like to meet, or hear from, anyone who has lived in one.
