Re: Flaming August

It's the same here Muddy. It is miserable, isn't it.

Cool, raining and an quite wind blowing too. They have forecast it may get up to 45 m.p.h. by lunchtime. Must go and stake my dahlias.

Hi

Yep, awful isn't it.

Lights on in the house, having to use the tumble drier and the heaters in my fish tank are on, unheard of for this time of year.

Re: Flaming August

Oh dear. I'll make you an offer............you send us a day's rain and I'll send you a day's sunshine. Some warm summer rain would be most welcome here. Seriously I hope the weather improves for you all, I know how miserable such weather can make you feel.

Re: Flaming August

Talking to elder sister yesterday. She confessed that for two evenings they'd put their CH on. Only for about 20 minutes, just enough to take the edge off the chill.

And I pondered on FB yesterday whether to put my electric blanket on. It can get quite cool, especially when raining.

Seems we're about 10 degrees too far North. Down in Sothern Spain, Corsica, central and Northern Italy and Austria they have a drought and soaring temperatures in the higher 40o Centrigrade. If we had those kind of temperatures for even a few days, everyone would be moaning that its too hot!!!

I'm enjoying it, can get the dogs out any time, not sweating like a pig, loving it.

The puddles on the common have filled I'm told so Elsie loves leaping in them again, she is always disappointed to see them empty.

I know my husband finds it easier a van full of chocolate is never good midsummer ! But cooler weather he isn't pouring it out

Re: Flaming August

It always seems to rain when the school holidays begin!
My sister who lives in Spain is sweltering in the heat and has to keep taking a cold shower to cool down!
I think l prefer being in cold UK, it's easier to get warm than it is to cool down!

Re: Flaming August

I think quite the opposite Artangel. If I get cold it takes forever to get warm again. At least if I'm too hot (which is every day right now) I can go in the pool for a quick cool down, put the air con on, or sit under a fan. Even better I can go down to the boulevard, all shops are air conditioned and outside there are "misters" all over the place that blow out cool mist whilst you are walking outside. They even turned the "misters" to snow one day, that was fun, it was so funny watching everyone looking up and wondering how it could snow on a hot sunny day.
