Why Do Some People, Look Down On Others?

Have you ever looked down on others? If you say you haven’t. I am not sure if l will believe you.

Is looking down on others a type of power or just plain snobbery? In fact, who do they think they are?

I'm sure I did when I was younger with no empathy for others.

As I've got older I've accepted all people are different and just because someone doesn't look or behave "normally", or doesn't have any money etc doesn't make them a lesser person.

But......there are still people who defy the definition "human being" as in child molesters, psychopaths, sociopaths etc. i don't know that I look down on them but I consider them sub-human I'm afraid.

I think you are right,AA,..I think we have all looked down on others,at some point in our lives,..maybe the way they have behaved,as an example,...but as a human being,we are all equal,imo,regardless of status,but it's not like that in real life is it?...I have to say,I don't feel inferior to anybody ,no more than I am superior.

I also honestly believe,that some people like to feel superior over others and yes I do believe ,it gives them a sense of power,I have met a few in my time as a young woman,..I would love to meet them now...always in retrospect,never mind,it was a learning kerb.

The scruffy git in the green overalls, wellies and driving a battered 4x4 could well own a few hundred acres and be worth a few £million.

The only time I have looked down on people was at the top of the Blackpool Tower.

I used to look down on my grandchildren but the tables have now turned as they are both taller than me

I wouldn't say that I 'look down on people' but more those that I would like to befriend and those that I wouldn't, and I guess that some people think the same about me.

Any thread that begins with "Why...?" Is always from a certain person. What's with all the constant negativity?!!!
