Norwich "Happy Brexit day" letter of hate

This horrible incident has soured the "coming together" aspect of post-Brexit Britain. Some "unhappy-with-life" individual posted a letter on doors of flats in a Norwich estate. The text which included the following :

"We do not tolerate people speaking other languages than English in the flats.

We are now our own country again and the Queen's English is the spoken tongue here.

If you do want to speak whatever is the mother tongue of the country you came from then we suggest you return to that place and return your flat to the council so they can let British people live here and we can return to what was normality before you infected this once great island."

The local community has now come together to say that everyone is welcome. But are they? Clearly not if someone was motivated to this act of hate.

What do others think given that Brexit was not meant to be a racist cause? What do they mean by "infected"? What is a "true patriot"? Is there an false version?

Worth noting that the letter has poor grammar, punctuation and typos.

With respect Annie, how do you know it was not some bitter Remain supporter unable to accept Brexit Day on Friday, out to cause trouble and unrest? Just asking.

I'm not condoning this incident, but feelings were very strong concerning brexit in Norfolk, and it was demonstrated by the fact that they voted to exit the EU with a resounding 90% of the electorate.

Also, Norfolk is subject to the largest influx of migrant labour over the years. Only someone who lives there would fully understand the consequences of so many foreign workers descending on their towns and villages in such a small amount of time, in some cases outnumbering the indigenous population.

I see nobody is interested in a serious discussion.

Apologies OGF just saw your post. Thank you for giving more background on the area. I haven't been there for years but it was a pretty quiet area. It's definitely a region that has never been very open to outsiders. Perhaps because nobody visited much before? I just remember incredibly long lectures on the area in geography classes.

I do not think it's posted by someone pretending. This happened before possibly in the same area.
