Re: A&E In Crisis

i worked in the NHS in the 60's and 70's what a joy - hard work but good - none of the problems I here now - but less immigrants or course - many of them good workers in the NHS - less druggies of course. There is clearly a cock up in the whole system starting with GP's who can't or won't handle the job properly [and we have GP's in OZ who simple wont see druggies - just refuse! -] and the hospital system - we used to have ambulance stacking at one time - nurses fighting government for more staffing - we are all trying to run what should be a good system with less money and staff - it's that simple - do you have security guards now in A&E?

It could just be Urban Myth, but if you believe the press, Security Guards are now performing minor Ops.

is that minor Ops as in security operations to ease the boredom or minor Ops like slicing off a mole or two?

Re: A&E In Crisis

Triage does work quite well, problem now is GP's are sending a lot more through the A & E dept.
So consequently have a big wait to see triage, because they can't clear after triage because lack of staff.
But I believe it is early days yet, it could work once they have got used to the idea.

Re: A&E In Crisis

I was looking at 'Pulse' (pulsetoday.co.uk)

'07 June 2013 | By Sofia Lind

The BMA will begin rolling out a major PR campaign in GP surgeries today in a bid to fight back against damaging Government pronouncements by giving patients ‘the real story’ behind the widespread changes to the NHS.'

Every day, we hear about the NHS crisis and we members of the public, who have never worked in the medical field, remain completely in the dark as to what's REALLY happening.

I look forward to reading what our DRs have to tell us.

Sooo true. Government and media spin has been far too effective in spreading lies to gain public support.
Which may be why Wrinkly thinks GPs send more to A&E these days...

My last 2 visits to the doctors have been referred to a consultant.
Just like to say, people who arrive under blue lights don't go into triage, they are seen immediately.
