I think it would be great to know there are other species in the universe. I wouldn't panic, I would find it fascinating and if we all died in the process then so be it. At least it might unite the World against one common enemy (maybe).

I actually think there are a few aliens on this forum who are studying us and planning a take over in 2020.

I will be somewhat concerned though about the impact of alien poetry on our language, for example on poetry, the Azgoths of Kria, are pretty crap . During a recitation by their poet master Grunthos the Flatulent of his poem "Ode to a Small Lump of Green Putty I Found in My Armpit One Midsummer Morning", four of the audience members died of internal hemorrhaging and the president of the Mid-Galactic Arts Nobbling Council survived only by gnawing one of his own legs off.

I think if aliens landed here and got a look at some of the residents they would be the ones panicking
