Bank holiday Monday moved to a Friday

Not great news for calendar makers.

Last week, the government announced the bank holiday, set for Monday 4 May, would be switched to Friday 8 May, to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

Allan & Bertram said as a result about 400,000 of its calendars which had already been printed would have to have the May 2020 pages replaced.

"We're totally in agreement with changing the date. Just not changing it with 11 months notice, when you've had 74 years to prepare for this event,"

I can imagine the calendar makers being very unamused.

I would claim if I were one for loss of money.

Like they said, why only 11 months notice.

Perhaps it's on May's last minute legacy list.

Re: Bank holiday Monday moved to a Friday

All the calendar makers have to do is provide two small stickers with the calendars, one for the purchaser to amend the Monday BH , and one to add the BH to the Friday.

Simples!

Must be cheaper than re-running the whole page.

I'm sure people would understand and comply.

Of course the government could have made it an extra bank holiday.

Re: Bank holiday Monday moved to a Friday

Never mind bank holidays, what they should do is change the spring daylight saving hours adjustment to 5pm on a Friday. They can do the winter one at 7am on a Monday.
