Weight loss thread

Hello all, I started my diet on January 1st and am so far doing really well. Started at 20 stones very big but not too clever I thought, and with a low calorie diet and cutting out sugar and dropping the carbs I am now 15 and 1/2 stones. Just had one of my high blood pressure meds dropped completely and the other halved in strength and my diabetes is well under control with the diet I am following.

Hoping we can support each other here so please can we not have members rubbishing dieting if you wish to not diet that's fine, your health is your problem but we wish to take our problems in hand and do something about them.

So what are your weight loss goals or diet tips?

I could do to lose three stone - at least. I don't over eat but I do under exercise! Congratulations Julie on sticking to your diet.

Re: Weight loss thread

I know this will sound daft but I think I was under eating, but all the wrong things. I am now eating no sugar and low carb and struggle to eat the portion sizes. 100 Calories of sugar is quite small but 100 calories of lettuce - you can't get a big enough plate LOL

Re: Weight loss thread

i wish you luck too Julie....i am also trying to lose a bit...maybe a stone when i was told i was type 2 a few years ago...it was such a shock...i stopped sugar and biscuits,cakes....scones...everything completely...and i lost 1and 1/2 stone...then the dietitian told me i could have a scone...or a pancake...well...she might just as well have told me to eat what i wanted.....and because every time i had my bg checked...it was always good so my weight crept back up.....i've put on half what i lost.....but cutting out the sugar worked for me before...so here's hoping....

Re: Weight loss thread

Julie you are doing really well, good for you .
We did have a weight loss thread here last year and in the end most people seemed to drop out.

Just over a year ago I decided I wanted to lose a bit of weight having been diagnosed with a chest condition and I lost a stone, a loss which which I have managed to maintain.
I am not so much on a diet more adjusting portion size on an already healthy diet.

I find living alone I sometimes cook more than I need and tended to eat the extra rather than waste it, now I make sure I cook less in the first place.
