Echinacea - drops or tablets?

Echinacea is said to be good for boosting the immune system and mine needs a boost.

Drops or tablets - which are best?

Re: Echinacea - drops or tablets?

Thanks Ruthio - I'm going to get some while I'm out today.
Do you reckon drops are better than tablets then?

Re: Echinacea - drops or tablets?

It's a matter of personal choice but I think drops are better as the liquid coats the back of your throat according to my research...

"It is possible that liquid forms of echinacea (such as alcohol or glycerin-based tinctures) might work better than capsules -- as they’re being swallowed, these liquids could have an antiviral effect on the mucous membranes of the back of the throat."

Also you need to ensure it's Echinacea Purpurea as there are two others less effective apparently.

"It’s important to note that there are different species of echinacea, such as Echinacea purpurea, Echinacea pallida, and Echinacea angustifolia. Some of the conflicting findings may result from researchers testing different varieties. The strongest evidence comes from studies of Echinacea purpurea. Studies of Echinacea angustifolia and any echinacea root have had weaker results."

Hi Patsy! Do the tablets info sheet tell you which of the three plants you're taking?

Hi Ruthio
It says Echinacea Purpurea on the box
I take a couple of tinctures (other remedies) so I find the tablets in this case, easier ............
