Great additions everyone, the Swallowtail butterfly is something i tried to see at Hickling Broad in Norfolk, and failed. Rare in the UK.

Cowslip.

Re: Your latest flower photo.

Yesterday I went to a Yorkshire Lavender farm - and the place was full of lovely meadow flowers as well as the Lavender.

Cornflowers and Poppies

California Poppies

and Angelica - I had only ever seen it on top of birthday cakes before - it was good to see the actual plant.

05:15 this morning - out observing caterpillars - as you do - it had rained and the air was heavy with the scent of Elder flowers and Roses.

Re: Your latest flower photo.

I have seen both the Elderflower and Hawthorn bushes in impressive bloom of late, i do wonder if we are in for a bumper crop of berries and if so will it herald a harsh winter as the old country lore suggests.

Oh good! I get fed up of the weather being similar all year round!
I worry about the wildlife, but if they lose the habit of hibernation and storing food and foraging it can't be good.
Sorry for going off topic, but, I also wonder if we should be feeding birds with food that they should only get in the summer in the cold months?

You will find that some say not too , but the RSPB say its OK, if you do make sure its small in case its fed to young things like mealworms would be a good live food, but having the right plants and bushes will attract the right insects that birds feed on.
