Re: Is this the oldest photo?

The mother is my g.g.great grandmother Marquerite Houguez, the baby on the right is my g.great grandmother Emily Houguez who was born 1859. It is a photo f the phot so may not be very clear.

The second photo is believed to be my g.g.great grandfather Job Hunneybell who died in 1870, I am hoping to have the photo dated at a local event that is coming up soon.

I was lucky that my mother left me all of the old photos, we went through them and identified everyone. I have done the same with my aunts photos, she is 95 years now, I asked her if she would leave them to me. Lots of photos are thrown out when people die or nobody knows who is in the photos.

They are fabulous.

Now - did the photos get you into genealogy or were you interested in your ancestry before they came into your hands?

I started my genealogy when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, she was always curious about her ancestors, we have uncovered some fascinating things, my ggg aunt is pictured on a commemorative stamp, a victorian poet wrote about the family, and early 1800's they lived on Les Casquettes rocks and the family manned a lighthouse!

Re: Is this the oldest photo?

Wonderfully evocative pictures MM what is the origin of 'Houguez', is it Spanish or maybe Huguenot ?

We have many old family photos of my Grandmothers side along with the family bible, my cousin has custody them all.
