Slumdog Millionaire

Watched it on television last night. I found it very disturbing I had heard that it was a 'feel good' film a comedy even and yet I found it very disturbing certainly didn't make me feel good and there was little to laugh at in fact it made me cry. Maybe it was just me but I was shocked by this film.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire

The start of the film is a very tough watch
I still don't understand why anyone (the film reviewers I suppose?) gave it the 'Feel Good' tag, especially as it was released very close to Mamma Mia, which undoubledly is FG

We had a chat about this in the film section in this thread, long before it hit the TV screens.

Would you have enjoyed it more if you had received the 'Health Warning' before CC? I'm sure I was able to see beyond the poverty and squalor - not to mention violence - because someone I trusted told me that the film was worth a watch

Re: Slumdog Millionaire

Don't get me wrong I am really glad I watched what was a very good film with a very powerful story which I wasn't expecting. Hollywood made this film sound like something light and fluffy and colourful, something for all the family. It was a very striking important film and I believe that it will become a classic I just think that some people myself included would not have bothered with this film because I had no idea what to expect. My son is part Indian and the Jamal reminded me so much of him so good looking and with a gentle humour. I loved the film and am sorry that I might have missed it thinking it was something that I wouldn't enjoy.

Mamma Mia was glorious and indeed a very feel good film which left me certainly feeling good.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire

I watched it and thought it was an excellent film. It came on the heels of the Kevin Mc Cloud programme about the Dharavi slums in Mumbi which gave it added poignancy for me.

I don't like 'violence for violence sake' but in the context of this film I thought is was it was justified.

I don't know who the leading male actor was but he was lovely sadly a bit too young for me though...

Dev Pate,l Meg - he's just a gorgeous man-child isn't he? Very much of the look but don't touch variety

Re: Slumdog Millionaire

I watched it on Ch4 the other night.

I just felt `let down`. As we have said on another thread good books often do not become good films.

for those who have not read `Q&A`--yes it is harrowing at times but it`s a wonderful read.
