Europe - Does Nothing Change?

Back in 1944, pretty much the whole of Europe was under the control of the Germans.

With the exception of the UK and Switzerland.

The UK, with the help of the USA, and Commonwealth Countries, etc. fought a long and painful war to help put that right.

Many lives were lost. There was much pain.

Sad to say, but, if you look at the structure of Europe, all these years later, it might be difficult to argue that they (the EU) haven't put back much of what was there then!

Re: Europe - Does Nothing Change?

I think Tedc, that the older generation understands what has been gained or lost with being a member of the EU. We have long memories of the losses suffered in order to fight for the freedom we cherish. The generations that have followed have never had to experience the horror of war thank God, they have only experienced the wonder of travel, jobs and happiness within the EU. Long may the first two of these remain, but never at the price of the loss of everything we hold dear. We are not Europe, we are Britain, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales - Our own island - the UK. a hard-fought for free country that so many gave their lives for.

Why anyone would ever want to give that right away still baffles me.
