Painting - DIY or hire a pro?

My grandmother used to paint her interior walls and ceilings once a year it seemed. I don't mind painting, even trim work, as long as I don't have to climb more than 4 rungs of a ladder.

Do you paint your own house, inside or out, or hire a pro? We have summer student crews here who go door to door and I did hire them once to do outside trim but they didn't prep the surface or remove old, peeling paint first so the job didn't look good for long.

We've always done our own decorating until about 3 years ago when we paid a chap to decorate our hall, landing and staircase, but we had prepared it for him. At nearly 80 I don't want too much hard work these days.

I've always done it myself, but I'm not sure how many more ceilings I am prepared to paint...don't mind the rest, though.

I have always done it myself I worry my sight might make it difficult to do it in future .

If I had the money I would pay someone to do it

We usually do our own decorating indoors. A couple of years ago our next door neighbour kindly offered to paint the outside of the house for us which I was grateful for as I don't like my husband climbing ladders and scaffolding now...

I do all my own decorating. Was going to have a decorator in last year to do livingroom and bedroom as I find large ceilings difficult to do now, but my Niece's partner offered to decorate for me. Will be painting hallway and kitchen myself in a few weeks. Thankfully, I've no painting to do outside.

We have always done our own decorating and I have enjoyed doing it. These days though I am thinking it would be nice to have a professional job done - it's beginning to get to be a chore.

We do what we can manage but family members will do the rest for us, for which we are very grateful.

We do our own.....it's a pain in the %$£^ but when it's finished ah!!!!!ah!!!!ah!!!!
