Mixed race marriages.

My new neighbour is a really nice young man - in his early thirties, quite nice looking. in work, drives a 4/4 and I'm sure he could get most girls he set his mind on.

He is however waiting for his future bride to come over here. She's from the Philippines and currently they are having a lot of problems with red tape etc.

I just wondered why a young man would want a bride from another country when there are many nice single girls here?

(No I haven't asked him)

I can't see there's anything strange about that Carole My brother met an Italian girl while on holiday in Italy .... they celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary next year

Perhaps he doesn't want a nice girl!

Ask him how much she cost him?

I knew my son's preferences when he was a teenager, he fancied the girl in the Chinese chip shop. Cost me a fortune in takeaways

About 15 years ago a scruffy recluse of a man in my village went to Thailand and came home with a young bride. It wasn't love - that's for certain!

She only stayed about 2 months and after finding her feet she left him and escaped to live with her sister in London.

It's the way to a better life for some of these girls.

What's in it for the men though?

(Excluding all the genuine couple for whom it is true love)

This isn't odd surely, many many mixed race weddings take place every year. My nephew married a white girl I don't think anyone as much as blinked at it being strange in any way.

I would say that it's a very thought provoking question as to why a good looking guy would want to seek a bride from abroad, when there are many a good, young, single ladies here in the UK. Perhaps he seeks a lady that wants to escape the island and live a life of 'luxury' over here? Perhaps the single ladies over here do not conform to his 'wishes'
