Sure does.

The most important findings at Lake Mungo have been Mungo Man and Mungo Woman. Mungo Woman, a partially cremated body, was discovered in 1969 by Dr Jim Bowler from the Australian National University. She was initially estimated to be 25,000 years old, although a more recent multi-university study in 2003 determined that she was probably closer to 40,000 years old. Mungo Woman is thus the earliest known human to have been cremated. Mungo Man was also discovered by Dr Bowler, on 26 February 1974. The remains were covered with red ochre, in what is the earliest known incidence of such a burial practice.

Singing Rainbow Bee-eater (Merops ornatus)
By AWLancaster · · From Pic of the Week
This colourful Rainbow Bee-eater sat on a wire fence beside me on a warm spring morning and sang for at least thirty seconds. Its beautiful feathers were lit up majestically by the rising sun.

Here's Looking at You
By Paul Irvine · · From Pic of the Week
This little guy is a peacock jumping spider called Maratus flavus or colloquially, Colonel Mustard! This species was only described into science in February 2018 but was known to exist since about 2012. This colony is approx 35 kms from the described subjects and is right in a housing development area that is flattening massive ancient sand dunes and removing vegetation that is the home to inverts like this little peacock spider. Sometimes I worry about the level of environmental studies that are done for these developments when previously undescribed species actually live within that space and were not picked up in that process. Food for thought.

Fairy Hill in the Morning Mist
By Joanne Piccoli · · From Pic of the Week
Travelling along the Summerland Way heading to Kyogle, chasing the sunrise, I had to turn the car around when I saw this scene, a glimpse of the sun rising through the morning mist, shimmering over the water. Best of all were the water birds lined up on the tree branches, keeping their feet dry.
