Air Conditioners

Has anyone got one of these cooling units ?
We are considering getting one, unfortunately they have a hose attached and we are just mulling over how to get that part of it sorted, needs to go out of the window - anyway are these units good ?

Do you mean the mobile ones that you can move from room to room? If so they are okay but yes you do need to have somewhere to put the hose through. We used to have one but got rid of it, it was a pain to store during months when it wasnīt needed. We have inverter air con units, wall mounted, in most rooms, one room has no air con unit but it isnīt needed, the door opens into a room that has air con and the one unit is sufficient for both rooms

Re: Air Conditioners

Here in Miami its hot all year round so all homes have central air conditioning. There are some cases where individual units are installed on the window. What happens with these separate units is, that they cool only the room where they are located in. The rest of the house remains hot. Those who have these units, buy 2 or 3. Thing is, they really look bad sticking out the window

Re: Air Conditioners

We have on occasion used them in offices at work, they don't all have to vent outside, but they do have a condense bottle that needs emptying regularly.
They do work reasonably well, but don't leave them running or you will return to a wet carpet!

Re: Air Conditioners

If it's a room where you have regular issues of it being too hot in summer, very cold in winter, it's best to have a permanent split system installed. The inverter systems are incredibly efficient these days. In heating they can be up to 500% efficient. In other words, for 1kw input, you could get up to 5kw of heat output.

We are a bit limited here in what we can do - restrictions
Thanks all for your input
