For me, it's accuracy in general. Especially so when communicating with customers.
Spelling, grammar, punctuation, accuracy with numbers, correct terminology and unit abbreviations were all important in my field. You don't want to confuse mW and MW.

On an internet forum, I think one can adopt a more relaxed, less formal approach. As long as the meaning is clear, does it matter if you miss the odd comma?
