MT Etna

went to see Mt Etna on one of our trips

Just one of 27 craters on it

week before was a minor eruption and no visitors allowed then

Lava flow from that week

Rocks of Lava

Not as bad as happened to these people

who happened to live here in Pompeii

Re: MT Etna

Incredible photos, Realspeed. Not sure I would want to be so close to a live volcano though!

Wasn't that Vesuvius that swamped Pompeii?

Re: MT Etna

Just trying to show Etna, then decided to add the pompeii episode to show what a volcano can do. Yes I should have headed last with Vesuvius. Sorry about that, at 2.20 am the brain goes to sleep

Anyway how Etna left the landscape down to the sea.
