Plastic each one has a little plastic flower on it or a bird. I also have some ancient wooden ones I don't use but my grandad carved he loved my nan into each one and I can't bring myself to throw them away.

Muddy, Tell your maid to be careful whilst she's hanging out the clothes! A blackbird might come down and peck off her nose!!

But if she makes a big commotion, a little Jenny Wren will fly down into the garden and pop it back again!!!

Re: Pegging out

I have seen, on period films, the use of two intertwined clothes lines. To hang out clothes, the two are opened apart and a corner of the clothing item pushed through.

I have never seen that done in real life, though it appeals to me on the grounds that the purchase of expensive clothes pegs is unnecessary.

Has anyone done this?

Re: Pegging out

Being "Green" I only use wooden pegs. The plastic ones never decompose when they break. They just lurk in grass till they get mowed into a dozen pieces.

When they break we use a permanent marker and use them for plant markers.
