Wooden for me, less carcinogenic connotations for the folks who have to manufacture them, but more splinters maybe.

I use the plastic pegs now, they are cleaner for the washing.

However, you do have to be careful which ones you buy ... some of the plastic pegs do not grip the clothes on the line securely and if there's a strong wind blowing the washing will often come adrift from the peg.

I do use plastic now mainly because the last wooden ones I bought had spring which rusted after a couple of uses and ruined a really nice blouse.
