Cost of fuel.

I just bought a fill of central heating oil and was pleased to see that the cost was down almost 14p a litre since last year.
In the same time, the cost of petrol and diesel has risen.
I wonder why?

Re: Cost of fuel.

Not down here it hasn't George. Where I live petrol has gone down from approx. 1.40 odd to 1.20 at the mo, and still falling. In todays paper it said it may even drop to £1 a litre because of supermarket price wars.
I wish gas & electric would follow suit!

Re: Cost of fuel.

I heard about the possible £1 a litre this morning. I wonder if the same savings will be made on diesel, sometimes the difference between petrol and diesel is vast. Our local petrol station has dropped the price 2p to 131.9, we always fill up if we're out of town where it can be 6 or 7p a litre cheaper.

Re: Cost of fuel.

The cost of petrol and diesel here is usually slightly cheaper than the cost in the Midlands, (I must ask my daughter who lives in Sheffield, how much she pays) and it's similar to the prices that Bird reported for E. Yorkshire. However I haven't seen anything like 20p (a litre I assume) drop over the last year.

Heating oil is just over 50 p / litre.

Petrol has gone down here in Hungary. Three weeks ago it cost £1.10 a litre but today when I filled up it had gone down to £1.02 a litre and in the nearest city it was even cheaper - about 99p a litre.

Re: Cost of fuel.

Petrol was only £1.30 for my last fill up (Super unleaded). A couple of years ago I was paying over £1.50 for normal unleaded fuel. Price has really come down.

Last time I bought heating oil was about 12 months ago and it was 70p/litre

If the left hand doesn`t get you the right hand will. Money makers will have taken falling oil prices into account and found another way to screw you
