Shared Motherhood

Shared Motherhood - that's what they are calling it.
I have never heard of this before.

It is a new option for lesbians who want to start a family.

One woman's egg is fetilised by donor sperm, to create the embryo. Then this embryo is implanted into the other woman to carry for the duration of pregnancy.

The medics are saying - " this way both women feel totally involved."

So what do you think?
Is it helping a couple produce, or is it scientists experimenting for their interest ?

Re: Shared Motherhood

I think they should do more research into how these things affect the child in later life before carrying on with all this nonsense. I suppose one day, it will be the norm but Britain is already looking like the bar scene from Star Wars.

When you think about it, it's only the same as egg donor + sperm donor or IVF.
If it's not hurting anyone...

I just worry about the children, not the adults, they can do what they like.

I'd rather a child had loving parents of any kind than abusive heterosexual ones.

Re: Shared Motherhood

The case I read about where this has already been carried out said one partner wanted her own biological child, but didn't want to be pregnant.

While the other partner wanted to be pregnant, but didn't mind if the child wasn't genetically hers.

The procedure resulted in twin boys, but the one gave birth had post natal depression afterwards, and could not bond with the babies for the first eight months of their life.
Apparently she had treatment for it and eventually felt she could love them.

TWO surrogate mothers?! No it's so wrong.
Poor mixed up kid when it starts to inquire about it's parents.

Maybe by the time these two little boys grow up, it will be totally accepted and common practice?
