Kamikaze wasps!

We had a nest in the eaves this year..
Going to destroy it or block it over the winter in the hope that it won't re-establish next year.

As a consequence, we appear to be having more than our fair share of the drowsy, dying blighters entering our home to die a death worthy of the Samurai.
In between the trick or treaters tonight I had a frenzied stingy wasp bouncing of every light and ceiling space in the living room! It went on for about half an hour then, as quickly as it appeared, it seemed to expire dramatically into the corner of the room behind the telly!

Its sword was drawn!

I hope

Oh no, I hate wasps. I once had a nest in my house, the exterminator told me it was the size of a football and would I like to see it, I said "no thankyou, just kill the evil bleeders" urgh, I'm shuddering remembering it.

Hope they bugger off and fast. I'd be having nightmares

Their nests are works of art though. No I don't like them, I'm allergic to their stings.

They don't generally return to the same location.

Re: Kamikaze wasps!

It’s probably a solitary queen looking for somewhere to hibernate, the nest will have been empty for a while now, and they don’t usually return, ( as ray said) , as wasps won’t build near another wasps nest, as it will quickly be attacked by the established wasps.,

I found a small hole beneath the window that wasps seemed to have occupied Rhian, a puff or two of Nippon Ant Powder did the trick followed by a knob of cement......

Any insecticide containing Permethrin will zap wasps and is not harmful to humans.

Wasps are often "drunk" at this time year. They spend most of their day inside fallen and rotting apples eating and drinking what is essentially cider. That's why they take on the personna of drunken teenagers looking for a fight.

They'll do that even non drunk, they are the most stinging creatures I have ever met, they sting for fun because they can, over & over again. A bee dies if it stings, so those I don't mind.

Hi

Permethrin will kill wasps, it will not however kill the nests.

For that you need Actellic, which is not available to the Public.

I use it to destroy and remove nests, free of charge.

I use the grubs for fishing, a fantastic bait.
