Re: Anti Cyclists

I don't think financial incentives will get people riding bikes. Not many over fifties anyway. Cycling is hard work first. Getting out of breath is something that hasn't been experienced in a long time and it is felt it will lead to a heart attack.

I've watched some older people try their first ride on a bike since growing up. It's mostly done with a nervous laugh because of the balance and wobbling. I can tell it will be the first and last time they are going to try it.

Re: Anti Cyclists

Hi

Nothing against the vast majority of cyclists.

If he numbers are going to increase substantially and we are also going to allow electric scooters I do have an issue with Insurance.

If you are hit by a car you have a claim, not so otherwise.

I think, l will start driving on the pavement to avoid long traffic queues. Maybe even jump a few red traffic lights too!

What’s good for the goose and all that!!

There are a fair few cars which are exempt from road tax. Why should those who own cars which involve road tax pay for the maintenance and construction of roads for those who don't contribute?

Also, given the increase in mobility scooters which use the roads, surely it makes sense to create designated paths and road lanes for their use? Note also that all vehicles used by disabled vehicles are exempt from paying road tax, together with some other ones.

Paying road tax does not mean that you own the road Arty.....
You pay for the privilege of being able to take your comfortable, climate controlled, engine driven, petrol gobbling (or diesel gobbling, electric don't have to pay) surround sound equipped, home on wheels out on to a public road to join a thousand other like minded intolerant and impatient individuals who think that because they pay the road tax, they do own the road..... Arty! have some consideration for your fellow species....

That is annoying. Another thing is when you see someone struggling to pedal up a hill but they refuse to change gear.
