PDSA have advice for pet owners who have to self isolate. Keep cats in and don't take dogs out, get someone to do it.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

The Federal Coronavirus Task Force has announced that, beginning on April 6th, all adult Americans, who earn less then $75,000/yr, will be getting a check for $1,000 dollars for emergency needs.

Locally, in San Diego, the mayor has announced that people who can not pay rent will NOT be evicted. Nor will water or electricity be turned off.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

Schools closed, from Friday, apart from key worker's children.
I think this will mean more panic buying this weekend.
Also, there will be a lot of teenagers hanging about bored all day.

Home Bargains have set up a fund of £30 million pounds to help their workers who are affected! They hope to keep their stores stocked up too! Good on them!

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

I think a lot of people who are self isolating don't have the virus, they need to bring in testing.
My grandson was sent home from school because he was a bit warm last week and told not to go in for 7 days, he was fine. Great grandson has his usual croup, he gets it a lot, was not allowed into pre-school.
Looking at it the other way, if you get a cold or cough, you may be more likely to catch the virus if you're run down. Great grandson may be more susceptable with his weak chest.
It's more difficult to sort this out than first thought.

I thought that cats were immune to the virus.

You can only catch it being in close contact with someone else for over 15mins. If you walked the dog at something like 5am when you know there's no-one else about (or even drove them to an empty field at that time) there's not going to be anyone there for you to catch it from or to give it to!

I guess it would depend how rurally you lived or whether you lived in a city and the only park was used by a large amount of people in daylight hours (such as central london) but not everyone has someone to walk the dog or can afford to pay dog walker prices every day for weeks/months on end.

No one is laughing ... and there is such a thing as releasing the tension a bit.
