Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 2)

Tut,tut Jem-you didn't pay attention to your English classes:

For,as you ensconce
You thought I'd say nonce,
Or maybe say ponce
In this rhyming response.
But my nonchalance
Is in renaissance.
And I'm enjoying it- so's my mate Hans.

[y'have to pronounce his name in GERMANIC FASHION for that to vork]

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 2)

The ponce
Was ensconced
By his paunch
When he launched
His nonchalance

I think we nicked the rhyming words from the same source,, but I didn't finish the job.

BTW You gents are in good form atmo..

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 2)

Good grief ,I passed the four thousand mark
I only joined cos it seemed a lark
Now I’ve laboured three long years
With never a chance of a reprieve

I came in fresh, now I’m past my best
But I don’t care, it’s still my best
That’s still to come
The wires still hum

Some say the lights seem on
But there’s no one there
His sparkles gone
And do I care

Yes I do, but I am having difficulties, I have early signs of dementia, so I am selfishly signing off for a while.

my thanks to my chums in here.

That’s a grand bit of verse RJ, the old sparkle will never leave you.
I might just take a long rest too, I’m showing all sorts of signs meself, typing R’s instead of T’s putting posts in the wrong threads, repeating meself a lot, and falling asleep in the afternoon, something I’ve never done before, but that’s life, I’m like an old Apple Mac shutting down but taking a long time to do so.

not wishing to pry dear RJ and so just a friendly comment, but there is a similarity between dementia and 'old age memory loss or laspes of memory' which even some doctors get wrong [and don't get me goin on the efficacy of doctors] I from time to time just cannot remember or perhaps recall is a better word the name of one of my many grandchildren but within 5-10 back it comes.
and what irritates me imensely is people close to you who keep saying "your memory is getting worst you know' Just a thought

and now that you've got me going I am of the opinion that we are in an era of information overload like never before. can you remember the more peaceful times of our childhood, early youth, teen years etc when computers never existed unless they were locked up in a large room with an ice bucket to keep them cool?

there is just too much information being beamed out - I often comment when watching the news " why on earth do we need to know about a small town murder deep in the heart of some US state whose name is unpronouncable with visual graffics ta bout?

over here in OZ we have a 24 hr news channel which I am sure you have too. but it's not new news throughout the day but a churning out of the old. ARghh

Now what was I talking about??

you no doubt heard the story about the guy with Alzheimers who would look into the mirror each morning and shout out "Mary someone has been tampering with this picture. This man was clean shaven yesterday and look at him now- covered in stubble!" " if I catch the blighter, I'll give him a piece of my mind - now where did I put it too?"

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 2)

Well if everyone's going that only leaves me
So I might as well let my wild thoughts run free.
To date my mind's agile,I give you my oath;
I don't forget friends names,I have two-and I'm both.

Words cause me no problems,my lexicogaphy's good.
Plus cerebral synapses act as they should;
My mental acuity hasn't yet tipped the ridge,
And no,it's NOT strange to keep socks in the fridge!

Yet,just because I habitually do thing my way,
And I'm not 'politically correct' in everything that I say,
I caused havoc in a restaurant-real 'fun & high frolics'
When I said their Korean meatballs really were the dog's boll....[you can guess the rest]

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 2)

I think I'll give this laptop away.
I don't do Instagram or Farcebook or Twitter;
And whenever I look through the forums there are
It seems most folk are twisted or bitter.

It's not like I 'game' or bother with porn,
The point of that stuff I don't see;
So the only things I use are ebay and here,
But you're all leaving-is it coz of me?

I've already been chucked off other threads
because participants didn't like my humour;
I even got told that my heart is ice-cold,
[it's not-that's just a harsh rumour]

I think I'll give this laptop away;
I prefer guitars-long live 'treble clef'!
It only gets use when I'm coming on here,
but soon there'll be nobody left........[sob]
