I usually quite enjoy reading this columnist's offering and today was no exception.
He ended with this:-

Speaking of the Confederacy, the Guardian is being accused of hypocrisy over its support for Black Lives Matter.
During the American Civil War, the now achingly right-on newspaper backed the South, opposed the abolition of slavery and called Abraham Lincoln ‘abhorrent’.
The Guardian was founded by a cotton merchant who made his fortune off the backs of slaves.
Surely it is time for the paper to shut down in shame and make reparations to the descendants of those its founder exploited. The Guardian Must Fall!

But hey, all is fair in love and war, let's keep both journals in the name of equilibrium.

Anyone who any dealings or made any profit from slavery has to be held accountable now?
As in .... descendants of dodgy ancestors.

That's George Orwell scuppered and Graham Greene. ... and doubtless many companies.

I come from a long line of slave traders.

Or do I? I'm not sure, I guess my ancestors might have had more involvement than the guardian ever did.

My ancestors were very heavily involved with slavery.

For over 4000 years.

So yah boo sucks to this uppity bunch of Jonny-come-lately lot and their dumb supporters who don't even know what they're supporting..

I am increasingly disappointed with the Guardian .
Once the great Manchester Guardian paper of the working man
It used to allow comments but now all it is is a platform for the virtue signalling far left Champagne socialist types.
