Are you buying the indoor houseplant ones?

They do better kept quite cool and out of direct hot sunlight.
They also are best watered from underneath in the saucer, and let the roots suck it up.
If you keep the compost too wet on top, it will rot the corm.

Thanks Mups I do buy the indoor ones - I think my home may be too warm although I usually put them in the hall which is cooler. I know to water them from the bottom too but I still can't seem to keep them going! Maybe I should talk to them more - I do that with my garden plants and it seems to work with most of them
