Re: Excruciating Film Sequels

Die Hard 4.0 is a poor film compared to the previous 3, but Nos one was an all action thriller and was by far the best in the series.

Re: Excruciating Film Sequels

I thought Casino Royale was a good film (have watched it several times) but the following bond film -Quantum of Solace - was sort of a tag on the end and was dire in my opinion.

Re: Excruciating Film Sequels

I agree re the Godfather trilogy. My view of this is that when he was young, Al Pacino used to act the part in a role but as he became more successful he started playing Al Pacino in every film. Now I love him as an actor but if you are playing Michael twenty years later you have to stay in character. He didn't and it ruined the film. He was fabulous in the first two. The actor I loved about Godfather 3 was Andy Garcia - perfectly scrumptious and a brilliant actor (in that order!).

The first Bridget jones sequel did not work because Renee put on too much weight and looked very unhealthy. I spent more time transfixed by her bodily and facial changes than focusing on the plot. I quite liked the Bridget jones baby film, particularly as they allowed Mark Darcy to live (not the case in the book).

I am not sure whether there was a dirty dancing sequel or whether they cancelled it because Baby had a nose job that made her look completely different and ruined her career.

I hated both Mama mia films. I cannot for the life of me understand the appeal.

I have just watched the twilight films again, I got into it over ten years ago and even though it's teen fiction really enjoyed the whole story. Very escapist. I still like the films even though it's not acceptable to say that in your fifties you still like teen fiction or flicks. Particularly vampire fantasy movies!
