dentity help please

I am posting on this thread in the hope more members will look and identity this

See first the size of it against the flower and it had extremly fast wing beat. I had to go to 1/8000 of a second shutter speed to even get this.
Seen it around before but got no idea what it is, hopefully someone can tell me

Re: dentity help please

thank you I didn;t have a clue.

I was in the garden doing a focus check with my Nikon D810 and Nikon afs 24-70mmG lens and turned to see this insect.

Tthe wing beat speed was phenomenal is the only way I can describe it,too fast for the human eye

So quickly set up the camera which was on a tripod and fired off several shots on an almost flat battery. On of those times right place- right time- right equipment a rare event for me

Yes, Hummingbird Hawk moth, we get them here sometimes in the Summer, they love the Buddleia. They do breed here but can't survive our Winters so they go back to Europe.

Understanable, you don't normally see this so close up
Saw humming birds in Brazil and they are quite small but entirely different in size, shape and look
