Ronseal or Creosote

My fencing is looking a bit jaded now. It's been up 4 yrs.

So, which shall I use Ronseal or Creosote?

I used Ronseal on the garage door and a bench but I've decided I'd prefer to see the grains on the fencing and with Ronseal you can't see any grain, it's more of a painted look.

I've never used Creosote, would I be able to see the grain with that?

If you have plants growing near the fence Pesta I don't think I would use creosote - it can harm plants. I think I would stick with Ronseal or something like.

Avoid creosote it stays tacky for ages and smells. Whatever you use make sure it is pet/animal safe.

Hi

Quite right you are Mups, it was banned for DIY use 10 years ago.

Apparently it was found to turn dogs brown.

Thanks for your replies and your video realspeed, makes it look easey peasey!

Mups I saw Creosote somewhere recently, not sure if it was in B & M, but it wasn't in places like B & Q.

I know a sort of 'almost creosote' type thingy was brought out after the ban, because I had some. There was a subtle difference in the name, they called it CREOCOTE, and smelled much the same to me. I believe some of the harmful ingredients had to be removed.

As others have said, Creosote WILL kill plants, and will harm pets, and don't get it on your own skin either as it burns.

What a subtle difference Mups, perhaps it was that then!

I suppose it's in the category that (I think) banned Swarfega?
Can still my dad washing his hands and arms in that green stuff

No there aren't any plants near the fencing, so I'd be safe on that score.
