New Rules.

Hi

The Brexit Changes.

https://news.sky.com/story/lets-get-...ation-12027345

Holidays to the EU will Change.

We will no longer be able to automatically retire to the EU.

Booze Runs will end.

We will need to pay for Holiday Insurance to the EU.

Things work both ways.

EU Citizens will be subject to Border Controls and delays and we will be subject to EU Border Controls.

Times are changing for us all, it is not a one way thing.

So long as those from the EU must pay for any health care/hospital visits, then that's fine with me. I'm fed up with those from overseas using our NHS for free.

By all means, that is only fair.
Please inflict all that on people visiting the UK as well.

After the Covid mortality rate in the NHS foreign visitors might feel safer with holiday insurance so that they get private treatment anyway.

Re: New Rules.

The EHIC card will no longer apply:

Quote from today's DM: "Travellers will also be advised to get comprehensive travel insurance, as the EHIC card will no longer be valid for healthcare in Europe from December 31.

Health insurance premiums are expected to rise for Britons when free healthcare is no longer available to them." EoQ

Here's the article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...leaves-EU.html

IIRC, a few years ago, some Spanish hospitals were refusing to treat Brits under the EHIC scheme and were charging for their services.

Considering that Switzerland, a "third country" is a member of the EHIC scheme but not a member of the EU, why won't the UK be allowed to continue as a member?

We have insurance based health care. Whether care is delivered in our own country, the EU or elsewhere the insurance pays. So at present the NHS, when giving medical care to any EU member, can send the bill en will be re-imbursed. That didn't alter after brexit.

Did you really believe those fabels about EU immigrants using NHS for free? My god, is you fooled!

They can take out health insurance, just like inhabitants here do. Minimum premium/month is £ 100. Easy.

Switzerland has a myriad of deals with the EU. The UK is making things difficult in present negotiations about trade, defence, intelligence, fisheries, trade, data etc.

Re: New Rules.

As our last few holidays were in Turkey, the wife and I always had to get travel insurance. It doesn't cost all that much and gives you a year's coverage. The same presumably will be the case when we're out of the EU.

Of course you can, as a tourist on vacation. The reference to switzerland etc is to UK residents living in an EU country for a prolonged time.
