Re: The Non-Conformance to Single Market Rules
Hi
We are still i Transition, so no effects fully known as yet.
As regards compliance, once again we are idiots.
The Cheese Directive, made for good reason, Listeria.
A very different approach here in the UK to others.
We made a huge raft of regulation and charged our cheese producers to register, closing many small ones down.
France registered all it's producers for free and did not charge for testing or Inspection.
They appointed 2 Inspectors for the whole of France, thus complying with the Rules.
A once in 40 years inspection regime.
We are not very business friendly.
The French solved their problem by random testing at point of sale, free of charge and shutting down those who failed.
We inflicted huge costs on all our producers.
We need a Radical change in the way we operate.
I can give you many other examples of how stupid we are.
