Here Comes Frexit

As Macron admitted, if the French had an EU referendum, they would vote to leave.

Fingers crossed

This surely is something for brussels to fear. By 2022 the french can see for themselves how the UK is thriving outside the EU. Assuredly they will want that for themselves too! Probably the french will leave the EU even without a referendum because the results of brexit will be so convincing. https://www.thegryphon.co.uk/2020/06...ois-mr-frexit/

Re: Here Comes Frexit

There's a big problem with that Bread because there's a massive difference between IF they hold a referendum and WHEN they hold one.

You know what the French are like, Percy, they will blockade Paris until they get their own way. Besides, Macron won't be around much longer.

My French friends have already voted for Le Penn in previous elections, something they said they would never do, that's how hacked off they are with the EU and that was before the Covid fiasco.

I will be giving Frexit my full support

Don't get my post wrong Bread, I was just a little surprised by the Macrobe's comments is all. I'll give my full support to any country that wants to come out of that rancid, overblown, cabal that calls itself a democratic European Union, any day of the week.

Yeah I know what you mean Percy. Macron said he won't allow a referendum because the French would vote to leave. He said it on the Andrew Marr Show and there are clips on Youtube of it.

So much for liberty, igalite, fraternity ... n'es pas !

Quote from the link you provided Bread:
... Italy being the next nation to quit the EU. And with unemployment at 10 percent, rows over migration, crushing levels of debt, massive north/south economic disparity and a government with a deeply tenuous grip on power the Italians do look a safe bet.

I am a little surprised that the unemployment rate is ONLY 10% but that is not too shocking when you consider that more than 50% of the working Italians are actually Civil Servants of one sort or another (and many of these have 2nd, even 3rd jobs!).

The economic divide has been present for decades and decades. The dividing line between the 2 even has a name. It's called the "Mezzogiorno Line" which passes across Italy just below Roma. I know this because the company I worked for set up shop near a town called Pomezia so it could benefit from some enormous tax breaks in the 1970s.

Any Italian Government has a tenuous grip on power because they have to rely on small party coalitions all the time.

Here are a couple of links about the Mezzogiorno Line if you're interested:

Re: Here Comes Frexit

Looks like The Netherlands and Cyprus are blocking the ratification of CETA too.

Oh dear...

Another deal that isn't.
