I suppose that after 40 years of doing it, they are used to ordering us about, and
AZ is a British company!
AstraZeneca has it's HQ here in the UK but it is Anglo-Swedish, formed by a merger in 1999 between Sweden's Astra and our Zeneca (which itself was the result of an ICI demerger).
The wholy-British GlaxoSmithKlein is currently running 3rd stage trials of a Covid-19 vaccine in collaboration with the Canadian Medicago.
The plan is to produce over a million doses this year, made here in the UK and in the USA, Canada and Europe.
The ongoing hope is to produce over a billion doses per year soon.

One of GSK's other collaborations with Sanofi has proven not to be as effective as hoped and this has, as we now know, delayed production of that until later this year at best.
The other GSK collaboration with the Chinese Clover has started stage 2/3 trials too though.
