Underwater Kites?

Underwater Sea Kites

Can't say I have ever heard of this before. Looks positively scary to me.

If you think this is a pie in the sky idea you would be wrong as it is going into production off Holyhead

£25m sea 'kite' energy project launched off Holyhead

It will be two years before the first seven tonne device will be installed.

Re: Underwater Kites?

At first sight it seems like a good idea. I wonder if there are any environmental issues associated with it.

Seems an amazing way to harness energy and when you think about it the environmental issues must surely be minimal. As far as I can see only the turbine spins rapidly as water moves through it but it doesn't suck, not like an aircraft turbine. The whole thing is pretty big so fish will certainly get out of it's way.
