Socialism as espoused by UJ.

Hi

UJ has posted about his trips to the former USSR.

The reality of the situation.

http://www.neweasterneurope.eu/artic...089-blokowisko

Corbyn is going down the same route.

Democratic Socialism he calls it.

Workers Committees.

The reality is very different, if you are not a member and do not attend all the meetings, only rubbish housing and rubbish jobs.

Is that what we really want for the UK?

It was a criminal offence not to work, no work, no benefits.

Yes please, I'll have some of that.

Can I wash away the unpleasant taste with champagne?

NHS, Maternity and Sickness benefits, Old Age Pensions, Child allowance, Unemployment benefits, Workers rights, racial equality, to name just a few of the Socialist Labour policies this country has enjoyed. All currently being dismantled by the Tories.

Yes and I am willing to bet we've all enjoyed them over the years to a greater or lesser extent but now pulling up the ladder after us stopping others getting the same.

Hi

All of which we currently have to borrow £70 Billion a year to pay.

I am old Labour, learnt my politics from Harold Wilson, who could at least do simple arithmetic, unlike Corbyn.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a welfare state, provided people work to pay for it.

So we are borrowing for benefits but can easily afford wars and donating to foreign countries. I always find that one hard to understand. Could it not be we are borrowing to belong to eu, for wars and foreign aid ?

Then you didn't learn very well did you??? - go back even further and learn from Clem Attlee, Nye Bevan and Manny Shinwell!!!

If it wasn't for that wicked witch privatising and then selling off to her mates all our 'nationalised' infrastructure, we'd be in a far, far better situation now.

Do you really believe all that tosh? It never fails to amaze me how you left wingers can come up with any number of ridiculous "facts" and then immediately believe them to be true

According to the Office for National Statistics:

In the financial year 2014/15, the UK government spent £258 billion on welfare, which made up 35% of all government spending. In the financial year 2010/11 the government spent £230 billion on welfare, around 33% of government spending."

So the welfare bill is now £28billion more than in 2010 and you call that dismantling? You left wingers are without doubt blind to all financial realities but the truth is that there will never be enough money to throw at public services to satisfy every need, so the only question really is how to spend the resources that are available in the best possible way, which is the only debate on the table.

The right's answer is to spend what you have more wisely, the left's is to continue to leave massive debts for our kids tomorrows to pay for our easy living today.

Nothing new there then...

Is that why George Osborne managed to INCREASE our national debt by more than 50%???

Re: Socialism as espoused by UJ.

What we really, really need is a political party that takes the best bits from all the other political systems and puts them all together.
At the moment it's either/ or which only ever suits a small section of society. That's why we have so much discontentment and disagreement.

Lib Dems are practically gone so we need something completely new.
