In my opinion those who did/do not understand economics along with those who like the idea of living in a socialist state or the vital importance of maintaining a balanced national current account will never see the Thatcher governments as anything but a bad time.
Likewise those that don't even begin to understand the absolute necessity of doing what has to be done in order to maintain the annual treasury spending being met from taxes with short term blips being met by Gilts that then have to be serviced will ever thing of sound fiscal management being an indicator of a "nasty" party.
The REAL nasty party is the party that seeks to impose social engineering and worse by running up national debt quite apart from their their horrendous REAL racism..

She wasn't all good or all bad imo, the idea of shared ownership housing was great and gave us somewhere to live but it went wrong when it trapped people in housing that was no longer suitable as they aged, it also never could work in that it was designed for people to get better off and buy bigger portions but few of us managed that and ended up in a worse place than if we had never taken a share in the first place. So good idea went bad, should have been far better tested before rolling it out. Poll tax again good in theory but try getting tax out of someone that doesn't earn enough to pay it and it became a nasty thing that put people into debt and into prison. Again needed more thought and rolling out more slowly to iron out the kinks.
