To me, proportional representation seems the ideal way to get rid of this constant Conservative - Labour back and forth nonsense where one party is spend, spend, spend, borrow, borrow, borrow and the other one then has to impose austerity measures in order to get our financial situation back on track.

Then there's the problem of so many people's votes being ineffective - essentially ignored. If you are in a strongly Conservative area, for example, and you vote Labour, your vote really doesn't count. That's unfair.

With PR, every vote counts. The numbers are counted for each party and an appropriate number of MPs for each party are put in place. They may not be your local MP, as it happens, but at least your own preference is taken into account.
