Letter Writing?

How things have changed in the last decade.

I have M$ Word/LibreOffice documents going back to 1995, each year I put them in a folder named with the year. The time had come to sort out my 2013 letters.

The folder for 1995 contained about 170 personal letters, for the year 2000 there were 80, for 2013 there was 1!

I have written a few business letters - perhaps half a dozen - but even allowing for the fact that some relatives have died it is really an incredible phenomenon, most correspondence is carried on my email or SMS these days.

Who would have thought it?

Re: Letter Writing?

I like receiving proper handwritten letters from friends/relatives - it shows they care. As for business people - they have no choice but to send me letters as I never give them my email address !

Re: Letter Writing?

I only have one person that I write to now.
She was my mum's best friend for years and never forgets my birthday - she pops a note in her card, and I'm going to write her a letter this week.
All our older relatives have passed on, and they all got letters from me. It was noted at my birthday dinner that we all email and text BUT my grandson did write us a note to thank us for his 18th birthday presents

Re: Letter Writing?

so expensive to send letters these days , cheaper to send a text or email, the only thing postie delivers here is junk mail which goes straight into the recycling without being read

Re: Letter Writing?

Yes, I like sending emails.
We send and receive regular emails from cousins - I don't think any of us would bother with letters. Christmas cards are the best we manage
We too only seem to get junk mail from the postie - we shred them

Re: Letter Writing?

I can't keep my hand writing together long enough to write a letter to someone; after a few paragraphs it is indecipherable (nice word that ).
