Got this virus loaded email today.

Thought it worthwhile posting this scam in case anyone is tempted to open it. The attachment contains PUP viruses that will screw up a system if opened.

Rule of thumb- never open an email attachment ending in .exe .zip or .txt Hope this helps.

Yes my system is fine thanks. Such an email may cause panic to some people, esp those experiencing money difficulties.

I was suspicious so opened the attachment in a dos shell to see what was inside... PUP viruses can be quite nasty so thought id better get the word out sharpish.

Thank you for the warning Marki I never open attachments unless I am absolutely confident about the validity of the sender .

I had one from HMRC that was dodgy but, like Meg, I don't risk opening attachments.
Thanks for the tip, Marki....

Re: Got this virus loaded email today.

I'm normally very careful what I open , but was cleaning up my net book and accidentally clicked on a seemingly innocent ad..
Ended up with whats called the 'Cheshire police' Hijack/ransom virus !!
Basically it took over my system..would not let me do anything.
Would not restore or go into safe mode. shut my WIFI down, would not let me into the Bios.. A real pig.!!

Decided I was not going to let it beat me..took me age's but finally got rid of it..so be careful..

Re: Got this virus loaded email today.

I think the rule of thumb should be you don't open any of these e mails
Why, because when did you give your e mail address to any of these
people. They write you a letter or in your banks case will give you a
bel. I once got one from my bank and I didn't know why they were
phoning me. So after she asked me for my account details I said no
I will ring you. So I rang the banking on line telephone number I have
and spoke to them that way. It was my bank actually but I told them
never to ring me again otherwise they might not hear what they want
to hear.
The HMRC is a very popular scam and I just delete it straight away as
I have never given them my e mail address and they state many times
they write to you not e mail.
Talking about the PUP viruses I once went on line looking for a new fridge
freezer and a very big store had a selection to look at. I pressed onto the
f/f to see its dimensions and did quite a few. After that I realised my PC was going slow. So I did a virus check with MalwareBytes and found I
had got 28 PUP virus on my machine which were not there before. So
beware on even the kosher things on line nowadays. There is always some
creep putting you in danger from virus

Pup Virus are common and are not much of a threat.

Just done sweep of my comp and found had 423(best yet) of them that I got from doing a google search for Global Maps.

Deleting Temp Internet Files gets rid of them, Ad Ware also works

Re: Got this virus loaded email today.

Had an email supposedly from Apple today, stating that my Cloud account was accessed by another iPhone. Told me if it wasn't me to 'click here'. Shan't, so there!!
