Re: Grandparents
No I didn’t really know my grandparents. The ones on my moms side had died before we were born. We knew these grandparents when we lived in England but we never really got to know them. My mother hated our grandmother and when we moved to Canada she didn’t have a phone so it was hard to stay in touch. When I was about 8 or 9 years old she came to visit and slept with me in my room and I didn’t really like it and I forever felt bad about it cause I wish that I could have known them better.Re: Grandparents
Yes I knew my maternal grandparents....I remember my gran was a very good cook and whenever we visited she always had things cooking, her Yorkshire puddings were lovely ....I wish I could make Yorkshires like her.Re: Grandparents
I had all four grand parents when I was born, although my paternal grandfather died when I was very young and I have no memories of him. My paternal grandmother was the feisty one - she was a 'match girl' a suffragette and during WW1, was conscripted to work in Woolwich Arsenal.Re: Grandparents
I never met my mothers parents, he died a few years after being gassed in the first world war and she died ten years later, well before I was born.Re: Grandparents
Lived next door to my maternal grandparents for a while; we were in no 1 and they 3. They had had 11 kids so could handle kids well. Always friendly – grandma used to have a bowl of onions in vinegar and a lump of cheese and all the grandkids that were around lined up for a sandwich – treat of the day! Grandad always gave me a penny when I left to go home wherever that was!
