I found it sad that the teaching of history, at my school, was all about learning royal names & dates.
Useful for pub quizzes, but never really got the feeling, of the population , through the various wars and Pandemics.
Hence dumped History when the chance came.
Conversely, our history lessons were all about the Industrial Revolution, the Chartist movement (who wanted equal voting districts way back in the 1840s and are still being opposed to this day
), the demand for the vote for all and how any dissention was brutally put down, the Suffragette movement culminating in votes for all in 1926 and the rise of the Labour Party.
I've branched out to include all types of history, even the kings and queens
