The 200000 immigrants that you welcome every year are in the most case skilled migrants who have gone through the exacting requirements that Australia demands .
So tell us how do you decide which are the deserving asylum seekers and which are banished never to touch Aussie earth to the tropical hellholes of Nauru and Manus island ?

The refugees granted residency here have been vetted and accepted from refugee camps whereever there is a demand.
The people on Nauru and Manus have tried to come to Australia by boat and have been intercepted at sea, they are either turned back to Indonesia or sent to the camps you mention. On Manus and Nauru their claims for refugee status are tested; if they are not refugees they are sent back to where they came from (mostly Sri Lanka). If they are accepted as being refugees then a third country is sought to accept them. That nice Mr Thump is favourite at the moment.
See how simple that is?
