In his statement after the videoconference with vonderleyen, michel, sassoli boris declared a deal should be possible by the end of july with a bit of umph and a tiger in the tank. Takky can explain the meaning of "should" in this context.

Boris Johnson*has said there is no reason why the outline of a Brexit deal cannot be sealed by the end of July, after he asked EU leaders at a video summit to “put a tiger in the tank” of stalled talks.
The prime minister later told reporters he was optimistic despite talks having stalled last week. “It is very clear what we need to achieve. I don’t think we’re that far apart, but what we need is a bit of oomph in the negotiations, and I was pleased that Ursula von der Leyen [and other EU officials] all agree … There is no reason why we shouldn’t get this done in July.”

It is understood that the prime minister told the three EU leaders he was committed to the political declaration, after weeks of criticism from Brussels that he had turned away from the document that he signed last October.

Tax harmonisation? Food for thought for experts. I await their conclusions.
Half the world is in economic trouble, not due to the UK's actions, but due to covid. But merkel promised she would make that her priority, and in merkel we trust.

Ever closer integration? When I realise that would mean closer to the likes of you, I start to doubt. So I better not think about that.

I have got no idea what you are up to. Firstly my own interest in the negotiations have surely nothing to do with the rest of peoples interests. Of course you know that.

Second I was surprised by the allegation that B.Johnson has dictated a deadline to Barnier. I find it difficult to believe and therefore I asked for the source of that allegation.

By the way I said earlier that Brexit plays no significant role in the news in Germany and I never said that I or others had no interest in that subject.

Thanks again for the arguments. After some weeks it has become clear to me that in this Brexit forum the desire for debate is next to none.

Pity as I would have liked some decent discussion (without emotions and insults).
