For those of you who can't swim or who don't like swimming I would say have a look at the programme at your local pool. They do so much more than swimming. I go to an aquafit class with my friend who can't swim. She stands in the shallow end - I stand with the water up to my neck.

At no time do your feet leave the ground. Basically it's exercise in water to music. An instructor stands at the side and all you do is follow her moves. It's great exercise and great fun..

I found that exhausting and couldn't keep to her pace. Did it a few times when a member of Bannatynes.

I'm a member of a health club attached to a large hotel. I go at 7 in the morning for a swim. I go off to the left hand side door. The right hand door leads to a breakfast buffet and I can see everyone helping themselves to big fry ups. Life's a bitch sometimes lol

I swim every day, try to get to the pool around 8am when all the ones going to work are leaving, so it's quiet for a while. I always aim for 50 lengths but usually do 60....I love to swim it sets me up for the day

I can swim.... that's it!! More like a dog paddle.. I can tread water. I can save myself..

That said. I DETEST water. I am terrified of it.. hate it with a passion. Swimming would NOT be my choice in exercise although I am aware of the benefits, my adversion is stronger.

I'm planning a return to regular swimming now. I just have to get my head round the fact that I will need to pay to use a pool when I have the sea on my doorstep. But at least there are no jellyfish in the pool...
